Mya Jumping across a creekMya on BridgeAbove: I love Mya’s stance on the little bridge. Isn’t she standing like a little dancer?! Love that back leg. So poised.

Mya diptych (hair blowing)

Her eyes are such a beautiful, unique color. Not quite fully blue, but almost.

Mya diptych portrait (curly hair)Love those pretty curls of hers! They look like ribbons.

Mya Dancing, triptych

Ah, the lil’ dancer. These were spontaneous, but I’ll definitely have to re-shoot her twirling in an environment that’s not so busy.

Chas & Rachel 9/25/2010 – Destin, FL

Was out of town for two and a half weeks visiting a myriad of people and places, setting foot in 5 different states and experiencing places I’d never been before like Nashville, Atlanta and cute ‘lil Chattanooga, TN. As I said in an earlier post, September was a busy month. Part of that busyness involved celebrating my brother-in-law Chas’ beach-side wedding in Florida. I took some photos for fun and these are just a small selection of my favorites.

Really love Rachel’s hair in these two photos. It looks elegant and classic. Perfect with the sepia toning.Chas & Rachel (sepia)Chas & Rachel, wedding portrait

Below: Grabbed the rings for some quick close-ups during the reception.

Saw the flower girl getting her feet wet while everyone else was milling around after the ceremony. It was so lovely I had to snap it.

The Petersons – Full Set

It’s high time I posted more of the Peterson’s photos. I had originally posted 2 photos back in June. And then, as usual, I blinked and three and a half months flew by. September was a busy month for me and October has it’s own stuff…time just keeps slipping away. Anyway. Onto the greatness that is the Peterson Family:

Nic & Brad with Red JelloThis is Nic with his son Brad–who has the most priceless expression on his face. Absolutely captivating. I can’t stop looking at his face. So great. So, so great. One of my favorite portraits of the year. I love that red jello with its red spoon against the blue shirt. And that bandage on Brad’s right knee! Whoo! Perfection! The bandage is so boy and the red jello is childhood all the way. Greatness. Absolute greatness. Some people are so easy to photograph. All the Petersons have to do is be themselves and they look AMAZING! They dress themselves, prop themselves…I mean, I couldn’t have asked for a better “prop” in Brad’s right hand. Love it! Alrighty. Enough rambling. On to the next photo!

Brad, standing portraitHere’s Brad looking like quite the handsome young chap. He totally did everything. I didn’t tell him to angle his shoulders like that or give that smiling yet serious look. I just told him where to stand and–Bingo!–he posed like a total model. Put this kid in a J. Crew Crewcuts ad!Nic & CherylNic & Cheryl looking ever so flirtatious. Cheryl’s expression in the photo on the right is so joyous and effervescent. My eye keeps going back to her face and those beautiful, long, dark and wavy locks of hers. Those Petersons. They are so cute together.Cheryl & Kylie (close-up)And here’s little Kylie, the Peterson’s newest addition. So precious. She has the longest lashes framing those blue eyes.Cheryl & Kylie, color

I posted this photo in B/W here. I actually prefer the B/W but here’s a color version for those who prefer color.Nic and baby Kylie, triptychNow, onto natural light, which has a beautiful quality all it’s own:

I really enjoy the two photos below. The geometry is beautiful and fresh.

Clara, Eight Days Old

Clara on greenThis is little Clara at eight days old. She was sooo tiny. Just a little feather of a thing, weighing in around 6 lbs. As you can imagine, her parents, Nick & Tuzdy are already very much in love with her.

Also, I want to give a shout-out to Justin White for letting me borrow his bean bag for this shoot. The bean bag made a great base for Clara to sleep on. Thanks Justin!

I’ll be sure to post more photos once I climb out from under the mountain of photo projects that need my attention!

Vegan Chef Charmaine Daniels

Vegan Chef Charmaine Daniels having fun in the kitchen.Havin’ Fun in the Kitch-Un!

Vegan chef Charmaine Daniels and I had a great time tooling around the kitchen last Wednesday. Thanks to Jim & Donna for providing a FABULOUS location for this shoot. Bright, airy, scenic, clean. Great specs for a food shoot.

I love photographing food, Charmaine loves to cook, and we both love to eat good, tasty, colorful food–and it just so happens to be super healthy and vegan. Just look at her. She’s fit and gorgeous!

Be watching for more photos as she whips up a super fresh and tasty tabbouleh/tabouli…(However it’s spelled…I found about 9 thousand different spellings on Google…)

———

A few of the ingredients.

Ingredients-mint, lemon, tomato, parsley, cucumber.Check out the size of this knife.

Parsley & KnifeChoppin’ up fresh parsley, green onion and mint. The aromas were wonderful. Especially the mint.

By the way, I love how the green onion reflects off the knife in the middle photo. So shiny…

Charmaine cutting greens. The dish is starting to come together. Beautiful! I never tire of these complementary colors in food.

Adding the Tomatoes

Cucumbers…

Dicing a cucumber

Adding the cucumbers, fresh lemon juice and bulgur wheat (bulgur was soaked in water, then drained).

Putting the Tabbouleh togetherDrizzling some delicious extra-virgin olive oil into the mix.

Pouring the olive oil on the Tabbouleh.Look at Charmaine! Isn’t she the cutest chef?!Charmaine

Then it was out to the balcony for a lovely alfresco portrait.

The wind was mighty and blowing her hair all over the place, but we managed to get some nice shots. I do love the spontaneous look of this portrait.Charmaine dining alfrescoThanks for joining me on this food journey. Hope you enjoyed it. Until next time….
