I spy something cute! …at La Petite Maison in Jamestown, CA!La Petite Maison, Green Room– The Green Room –

Welcome to the world of La Petite Maison in the historic Gold Rush town of Jamestown, California. Owners Pete and Karen Luckhardt have created a beautiful oasis full of color, charm and treasure. La Petite Maison StorefrontFrom the moment I stepped into this amazing shop, I knew it was going to be an inspirational place. Below: Crossing the threshold into a beautiful shopping wonderland.La Petite Maison, Entry wayThe store is divided into 4 themed rooms (Red Room, Green Room, Blue Room and a Children’s Room featuring Trumpette brand baby boutique items), surrounding a central area, plus a relaxing garden area outside.

Pete and Karen have quite the decorative sense, pulling together textures and colors in the most delightful way. Everything is balanced and in its place.

Right: Love how those green eggs echo the other green pieces in the room.Karen with purse, red roomThere she is! Karen, the owner, looking marvelous with a scrumptious purse from the store. Flanked on either side of Karen are two perspectives of the Red Room where the “scrumptious” blue purse lives.

And, while we’re at it, let’s go ahead and view two more photos of Karen!KarenJust look at the creative world Karen’s put together! So many unique pieces under one roof for a grand shopping experience!La Petite Maison, Interior shot

You’ll have to check them out in real life. The form, detail and intricate, tactile qualities of each piece are best observed in person. Not surprisingly, these are one of La Petite Maison’s top sellers. The other being the incredibly aromatic line of French soap they carry, seen above in two of Karen’s portraits.La Petite Maison Necklaces

A few necklaces from their well-stocked jewelry case. Those blue stones are like perfectly preserved drops of water. Beautiful.

The children’s room featuring Trumpette brand items. Every room has a personality of its own!

More detail shots… There just wasn’t enough time to shoot everything in the store. Too many amazing things at La Petite Maison!!La Petite Maison, detail shots

At the end of the shoot, much to my surprise, Karen sent me home with a bag full of goodies! I fully didn’t expect such generosity so this little gift bag was such a treat. Thank you Karen and Pete for your generosity and for sharing your world with me. I had a wonderfully inspirational day at La Petite Maison!

You must go and check them out! The Citrus & Black Tea soap smells wonderful! Wish I could describe the scent to you…but you’ll just have to go to the store and smell for yourself. They also have an amazing Lemongrass soap that smells ever so refreshing & invigorating.

Thank you, Pete & Karen, for creating such a wonderful store and inviting me into your creative space! I had a grand time!!

Clara, Eight Days Old

Clara on greenThis is little Clara at eight days old. She was sooo tiny. Just a little feather of a thing, weighing in around 6 lbs. As you can imagine, her parents, Nick & Tuzdy are already very much in love with her.

Also, I want to give a shout-out to Justin White for letting me borrow his bean bag for this shoot. The bean bag made a great base for Clara to sleep on. Thanks Justin!

I’ll be sure to post more photos once I climb out from under the mountain of photo projects that need my attention!

Vegan Chef Charmaine Daniels

Vegan Chef Charmaine Daniels having fun in the kitchen.Havin’ Fun in the Kitch-Un!

Vegan chef Charmaine Daniels and I had a great time tooling around the kitchen last Wednesday. Thanks to Jim & Donna for providing a FABULOUS location for this shoot. Bright, airy, scenic, clean. Great specs for a food shoot.

I love photographing food, Charmaine loves to cook, and we both love to eat good, tasty, colorful food–and it just so happens to be super healthy and vegan. Just look at her. She’s fit and gorgeous!

Be watching for more photos as she whips up a super fresh and tasty tabbouleh/tabouli…(However it’s spelled…I found about 9 thousand different spellings on Google…)

———

A few of the ingredients.

Ingredients-mint, lemon, tomato, parsley, cucumber.Check out the size of this knife.

Parsley & KnifeChoppin’ up fresh parsley, green onion and mint. The aromas were wonderful. Especially the mint.

By the way, I love how the green onion reflects off the knife in the middle photo. So shiny…

Charmaine cutting greens. The dish is starting to come together. Beautiful! I never tire of these complementary colors in food.

Adding the Tomatoes

Cucumbers…

Dicing a cucumber

Adding the cucumbers, fresh lemon juice and bulgur wheat (bulgur was soaked in water, then drained).

Putting the Tabbouleh togetherDrizzling some delicious extra-virgin olive oil into the mix.

Pouring the olive oil on the Tabbouleh.Look at Charmaine! Isn’t she the cutest chef?!Charmaine

Then it was out to the balcony for a lovely alfresco portrait.

The wind was mighty and blowing her hair all over the place, but we managed to get some nice shots. I do love the spontaneous look of this portrait.Charmaine dining alfrescoThanks for joining me on this food journey. Hope you enjoyed it. Until next time….

The Petersons

Preview of my shoot with the Peterson family. Such nice people. I didn’t expect them to feed me lunch and carry my gear… Wow! I’m not used to such treatment on a portrait shoot. And they’re so good looking. The camera loves them! Thanks, Peterson family, for a fun shoot! More photos to come.
