Joe McNally Lighting Workshop

Joe McNally signing books during intermission at his Lighting Workshop.

Yes, there he is. The man himself. Autographing his book right in front of me. WhooHoo!

I had the privilege of attending a lighting workshop with photographer Joe McNally a few weeks ago. I’ve seen him on Strobist, on YouTube and also on McNally’s own blog. It was exciting to see him in person, photographing the models, lighting, and working out issues. McNally is unquestionably a talented photographer and instructor. Very engaging and down to earth. The workshop was an all day event and every bit of it was captivating. Loved it and learned a lot. Thanks also to Kelby Training for putting this workshop together.

What a lively, innovative, refreshing bouquet. I’ve never even seen some of the flowers in this charming bunch!

Alijah on a rainy day

2 photos of Alijah

It was cold and pouring rain when we shot outside last Tuesday, but you’d never know it from the photos. Alijah was such a trooper, braving the elements for some great shots. So easy going, too! I love laid-back people who are open to trying whatever I suggest. (Ex: “Alijah! Wrap yourself up in the hammock!” And away she went, wrapping herself up in the hammock. And look at the nice result!) What a model.

Jamestown Cows

Jamestown CowsWas driving around Jamestown, CA, looking for a good location to shoot when I spotted these cows grazing right next to the road. For some reason, I find them quite humorous. Not as humorous as sheep, but humorous nonetheless. However, there was one menacing black one (not the one seen here in the photo) that stared me down and slowly advanced toward my car with this ominous look on its face. Needless to say, I quickly stepped on the gas and got out of there.

Buttons, buttons, buttons!

Colorful buttons in tin canisters.I got these canisters recently during a trip to beautiful Berkeley, CA (thanks Kim & Floyd!) and knew they’d be perfect for crafty supplies such as these colorful buttons. The buttons are from my friend Bonnie. Thanks, Bonnie, for having so many crafty “props” to play with!
