Macarons

Bottega Louie MacaronsOh sweet macarons. How I love you so. How my mouth waters just looking at your rounded goodness. Your many flavors, they tantalize my tongue.

I have never heard of a macaron. I’ve heard of macaroons. But apparently they’re different. And these beauties above are unlike any treat I’ve ever had. They’re light, airy, and oh so delectable. Alas, these Bottega Louie macarons are the only ones I’ve had. I have no other macarons to compare them too. I’d be happy to find a surprise box of them in the mail anytime. My sister has baked homemade macarons and she’s not the kitchen type, so they can’t be that hard…

Bottega Louie – Los Angeles

I’m so behind on blogging it’s completely sad.

I’ve been shooting a ton of pastries at Bottega Louie Restaurant & Gourmet Market this past week…and eating way more sugar than I normally do.  I’m not huge on sweets but Bottega’s pastries are SO DELICIOUS! Stop by Bottega Louie in downtown LA and pick some up for yourself. They’re located at 700 South Grand Avenue. Here are just a few of my favorites (also featured on Bottega Louie’s blog here.) More pics to come. Thanks to Stephanie Castro and Rachel Pham for their excellent prop/food styling and overall assistance during the shoots. I couldn’t have done it without you two!

I’ll start with my favorite pastry. I believe these are called Sugar Knots. I could eat a pile of these for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seriously.

Below: A pile of Apple Danishes and a fresh handful of Monkey Bread.

Your mouth watering yet? Mine is, just blogging these. Oh the memory of eating them is so vivid.

The Apple Danish is light & crispy with just enough apple filling so as not to overpower the whole thing.

The Monkey Bread is amazingly moist and melt-in-your-mouth.

I have such a weakness for croissants. These are crispy on the outside, moist & chewy on the inside.

They also sell Croissant Twists: long twists of salty-sweet, flaky goodness.
